I assure you that there were many
widows in Israel in Elijah's time, when the sky was shut for three and a half
years and there was a severe famine throughout the land. Yet Elijah was not
sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon. (Luke
4:25, 26)
If you are reading this, the same
applies to you. Remember you have been chosen by God to be a part of his
kingdom here on earth and in eternity. The Apostle Paul says,
"For those God foreknew he also
predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the
firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those
he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. (Romans
8:29, 30)
The Lord Jesus Christ has a plan and
purpose for your life. Predestined, called, justified, glorified is the main
plan, but while you live on earth, he has a specific plan for you like he had
for Abraham and Sarah.
When you sit at his feet, he will
reveal his plan for your life. Nothing haphazard, he will tell you things
specifically. Because you have been chosen by him, he will arrange situations
and circumstances to bring about the plans that he has for your life.
Though Joseph set out to obey his
father and enquire about the well-being of his brothers, he landed in Egypt
without friends or family, but God had planned things beforehand. God knew that
his brothers would throw him in the pit and plan to kill him, so he sent the
Ishmaelites at the right time and made them change their mind by speaking
through Judah, so they sold him to the Ishmaelites instead of killing him.
Before Joseph reached Egypt, God had
already chosen the house where Joseph would stay for the next 11 years.
Live close to God and you will see
his plans for you taking shape and being fulfilled. Never forget that you are
chosen by God.
