fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. (Psalm 145:19)
Do you fear the Lord? Not as fearing something that seems to be dangerous to you, but fearing because he is Almighty and worthy of respect and honor and awe.
The Bible has much to say regarding blessings for those who have ‘fear of the Lord'.
A few verses in this respect would do us good.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. (Proverbs 9:10)
The fear of the Lord adds length to life, but the years of the wicked are cut short.(Proverbs 10:27)
The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, turning a man from the snares of death. (Proverbs 14:27)
The fear of the Lord teaches a man wisdom, and humility comes before honor.(Proverbs 15:23)
The fear of the Lord leads to life: Then one rests content, untouched by trouble.(Proverbs 19:23)
Humility and the fear of the Lord bring wealth and honor and life.(Proverbs 22:4)
With so many blessings attached to 'fear of the Lord', it should be the endeavor of each one of us to develop this most important characteristic and stick to it as long as we live. May the Holy Spirit help us in this.
